Arimbi

This is my niece, Arimbi. She is 2 years old and have many similarity to her aunt (that's me). From dark skin tone, round eyes and i think she have lovely smile like mine....^_^

My Father gave her name, Arimbi because their parents my older brother name is Arief, my sister in law's name is Arlina and her older brother's name Aryo. So, my brother and her wife decided to gave a name that start from A and R. My Father took that duty so serious. First he gave a name "Buana Tungga Dewi" after a Majapahit Queen, but then President SBY's granddaugther took that name. My Father didn't like the President and he didn't want people thinks that he followed the President step.

My Father is big fans of wayang. Wayang is Javanese puppet show that the stories cames from Mahabratta Stories. After few days, he got a name from Bima's wife, Arimbi. She was a female giant. She was falling in love with Bima but Bima refused her badly because she was a giant (and maybe ugly). She was sad about that. Bima's mother, Kunti heard how sad Arimbi, and she said "How beautiful you are, that you loved a man......." (Sorry i forgot the rest). Suddenly, Arimbi turned to be a beatiful woman. Then Bima got married with her.

My Father hopes that Arimbi my niece will have a nice heart so people always looked her heart not just her physicall attraction. But My Uncle, My Father Younger Brother, Pak Ito said Arimbi actually is not a good name for a child because that's a giant name. And giant is not a good creature in Javanese Culture. I realize how hard to find a good name to a child. My tradition believes that a child name is parent's pray for her/his future and character. Hopefully Arimbi will become a nice person with a big heart, like Arimbi the female giant.
